Saudi Arabia and Pakistan recently signed a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement. Under this agreement, an attack on either country will be considered an attack on both. Geopolitical analyst and President of the Eurasia Group, Ian Bremmer, said in an interview with India Today, "This agreement is a game-changer for India. If a border dispute between India and Pakistan leads to a military conflict, Saudi Arabia will now be directly involved in Pakistan's defense. This will completely change India's security calculations."

Bremer said the agreement will give Pakistan new geopolitical strength and confidence. Pakistan's main ally, China, which provides military and intelligence support, will remain. Now, Saudi Arabia's formal security guarantees will provide Pakistan with additional strength. This agreement could extend to Pakistan's nuclear program, which Saudi Arabia has long considered a standby option.

What did the experts say about nuclear cooperation?

Experts said that Saudi Arabia's support for Pakistan's nuclear program is no secret. Riyadh has been funding Pakistan's plutonium program for many years. Saudi Arabia has considered Pakistan's nuclear capabilities as an emergency option in times of crisis. Now, this cooperation has been formalized.

Disappointed with America, Riyadh's new stance!

According to Bremer, this agreement is part of Riyadh's strategy to reduce its dependence on the United States. Saudi Arabia was disappointed by the US's quiet response to the recent attacks in Qatar. The lack of action against Israel prompted Saudi Arabia to seek new security partners. This is why Riyadh publicized its defense alliance with Pakistan.

India's reaction to the Saudi-Pakistan deal

The Indian government has stated that it is closely monitoring the agreement. The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that the partnership between India and Saudi Arabia remains strong. India also clarified that it will take all necessary steps to protect its national security.
