Lidl is urgently recalling a popular snack due to major safety concerns. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the product recall on packets of Lidl's Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews because it was discovered they may contain glass.
Customers have been advised not to eat the snacks and to return the packets for a full refund to any Lidl store, due to a major health and safety risk. The recall affects the 125g packets of Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews, with the 'best before' date of June 28, 2026. The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
Lidl added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation".
It comes just days after the budget supermarket had to recall some stroopwaffels due to contamination, as they may contain small metal fragments.
The product of concern was the 560g XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling & Butter, with the best-before dates of November 21, December 2, and December 3.
It is not uncommon for the FSA regulator to issue product recalls, and it uses surveillance to identify potential food safety incidents.
The regulator notes that food can be recalled for several reasons, including contamination with pathogens such as Listeria or Salmonella, or due to manufacturing faults, such as the presence of plastic or metal in the product.
The FSA has advised customers to contact Lidl Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566 for further information.
