Sustainable sparkle: Abbott Lyon makes a move Princess Kate would applaud

Sustainability is no longer a side note in fashion, it's becoming the headline. And Abbott Lyon, the British jewellery brand beloved for its chic, affordable designs, is proving that sparkle doesn't have to come at the planet's expense.

The label, founded back in 2015, is known for offering stylish, high-quality, personalised jewellery and accessories made with quality materials, including recycled silver and stainless steel. It's the kind of thoughtful, polished brand Princess Kate herself would admire - balancing royal timeless style with a commitment to sustainability.

Co-founder Asha Skelton exclusively revealed to the Daily Express that eco-friendly practices are now at the heart of the brand's latest collection. "All our jewellery is made from 60% recycled stainless steel, 80% recycled brass or over 90% recycled 925 sterling silver," she explained.

"We use cubic zirconia stones which are an environmentally friendly option. These stones create far less CO2 emissions compared to mined stones, and they do not contribute to deforestation or have negative impacts on our ecosystems."

Before adding, "We also use faux pearls, which are vegan and much more ethical than pearls that are oyster-harvested and upset their natural environment."

It's a philosophy that wouldn't look out of place in the Princess of Wale's wardrobe.

The 43-year-old has long championed sustainable fashion by repeating outfits, opting for responsibly sourced materials, and favouring longevity over throwaway trends.

Abbott Lyon's ethos fits neatly into that same space.

Durability is key. "We invest into high quality plating that ensures our products are sweat proof, waterproof and tarnish proof," Asha noted.

"This means they will last longer so people can have confidence that their products can be worn every day."

And it's not just the jewellery itself making a difference - Abbott Lyon is rethinking packaging too.

"We are about to go live with a new proposition which will allow our customers to choose a non-packaged option to reduce the amount of packaging down," the founder added.

By addressing everything from recycled metals to smarter, customer-driven packaging choices, the brand is redefining what affordable luxury looks like in 2025.

Stylish, durable, and environmentally conscious, it's exactly the kind of modern sparkle the Princess of Wales would likely champion, given her renewed focus on sustainability this year.
