Weird Fish reduces 'warm and cosy but not bulky' coat in clearance - colour is to die for

For outerwear that is functional yet still stylish, a mid-length padded jacket could tick the fashion box. Shoppers have found one piece from Weird Fish that they say is 'lightweight' but warm too - a perfect combination and it is discounted in a clearance sale.

The Ravinia Lightweight Padded Mid-Line Jacket in Mulled Wine is reduced to £76.50, down from its full price of £90, saving shoppers 15%.This mid-length jacket, lightly padded and crafted from nylon, offers warmth without weight, including a hood, making it the perfect winter coat.

The silhouette falls below the hip - longer than a cropped jacket but shorter than a full parka - meaning it's versatile for all body shapes. It comes in other colours too - Tarragon and Fir Green (both also £76.50) and Navy Blue, which is £72. In the Mulled Wine colour, it's available in sizes eight through to 20, and it's also machine washable at 20 degrees.

The mulled wine colour works perfectly with denim, olive or charcoal hues and brown leather accessories (boots or bags) will help ground the look. Additionally, the coat is best used as a transitional outer layer worn over a lightweight knit with jeans or tailored trousers, it adds structure while staying casual. Because it's mid-length rather than full coat length, it works well with dresses or skirts too.

Next also has the Friends Like These Green Mid Length Quilted Jacket for £62. This comes in sizes six through to 20, and also in other colours: blue and black (also £62). It has a hood, full length sleeves and pockets.

For a shorter take on the padded jacket, the Superdry & Co Hooded Padded Quilted Jacket from M&S is reduced to £66.50, down from £94.99. This comes in light grey and white (also reduced) and is a hybrid fleece and quilt design. It also has a padded hood and high-neck collar for extra protection from the elements.

But so far, the Ravinia Lightweight Padded Mid-Line Jacket has an average of 4.7 of five stars from just over 130 reviews online. One customer said: "Warm and cosy yet lightweight and very comfortable. Recommend to all who are interested to buy it." While for another it is stylish and functional as they said: "Lightweight but warm. Up sized to wear over thicker winter clothing. Lovely colour."

Another explained: "Bought in the sale, great value. Light but very warm, have been wearing it in three degree temps and it does the job. Love that it's not bulky especially when in and out of shops, and the hood is comfortable when walking as I don't like hats!"

For one customer, sizing was mixed, as they said: "Lovely coat this year's colour unfortunately a bit tight will order a bigger size. I bought the short jacket in a size 12 in the same colour, liked it so much I ordered the mid-line one in size 12 but it was too small. I had to return it and order a size 14 which was a perfect fit. I'm so pleased with both purchases as they are just what I was looking for. Lightweight but cosy and warm."

While another person wanted more pockets (this has side pockets) saying: "I've got the shorter jacket version and love the coat just as much. Very lightweight but yet warm without feeling over padded and bulky. As with the jacket it could do with an internal pocket."
