Earlier, the 29-year-old began confidently, defeating Alexis Ruiz (USA) 143140 in the quarterfinals.

However, the reigning Asian Games champion from Challapalli (Andhra Pradesh) lost a close semifinal to world No. 1 Andrea Becerra of Mexico 143-145. Jyothi had led 87-86 after three ends, before Becerra’s three 10s in the fourth turned the tide.

This was Jyothi’s 88th career medal and her first podium in three appearances at the World Cup Final, after early exits in Tlaxcala (2022) and Hermosillo (2023).

India narrowly missed another medal as Rishabh Yadav lost the men’s bronze playoff to former world champion Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands in a shoot-off after a 147-147 tie.
